In the Sketch file for the PatternFly 4 components - navigation, it looks like the avatar image is in all the files and examples. I just wanted to confirm if the avatar should always be there with the default icon or if it’s ok to drop the icon if the app/product does not allow for or use custom avatars for users.
Should be totally fine - I’m working on a product that doesn’t include the avatar either but does include a username (or first and last name) exactly like your example.

I would drop the avatar unless you have the capabilities for your users to upload a custom one. All of the examples have an avatar just so we can show the capability of the system.
